It was a joy to work with Chris Wesley. Together we completed draft standards by taking the technical committee's manuscript and turning it into the published voice of the committee. The manuscript was the product of many meetings and a completed work in the eyes of the committee. Typesetting improved upon this work as the raw manuscript was edited for style and formatted to convey the information. This process and its many small changes preserved the author’s intent while preparing a work that was precise, informative and readable for the public. The process worked every time.
Chris works well when applying editorial guidelines. The proprietary style guide we used was an often dense set of instructions developed over years to give our books the same look and feel. Within this guide Chris was able to edit for consistency and ensure a clear presentation of the committee's intended message.
These documents were formatted in a two-column layout and heavy with tables. Chris laid out the textual and graphical elements of the documents with a good eye for page design and a feel for the audience. The result was a publication that matched our guidelines, conveyed the technical committee's information and met the needs of the reader. It was great to see the results in print.
Chris was the right choice for typesetting our documents. Her combination of typesetting knowledge, editing style and empathy for the reader improved our documents every time. I think you'll enjoy working with her too.
